ROLE:
The Social Media & Email Manager (SMEM) implements and manages strategic content initiatives that promote Concordia University Irvine's brand across the University's social media and email channels. For social media, the SMEM oversees Concordia's main social media accounts, community managers, fosters engagement, and tracks performance and online mentions. For email, the SMEM is responsible for the execution of effective email marketing campaigns, analysis of behavior-based triggers, and maintenance of various constituent audiences.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  1. Implements and maintains social media and email strategy and tactics for the University with high attention to detail for both design and data.
  2. Executes social media content calendar and posting schedule creating and curating content based on strategic goals and priorities.
  3. Manages University social properties and engages with followers and conversations.
  4. Tracks mentions of the University and identifies influencers/advocates while spotting trending topics and breaking news.
  5. Maintains social media account information and resources.
  6. Manages student social media intern(s).
  7. Works with the Strategic Communications staff and university Emergency Operations Command staff on crisis communications needs.
  8. Trains and assists CUI social media community managers on university policies, best practices, and content development to uphold university standards.
  9. Produces visual content for social media, including capturing photography and video, creating and editing graphics and video through creative software and apps.
  10. Serves as a contact for third-party social media partners and vendors and is responsible for social media budget.
  11. Creates, tests, and distributes email blasts, for both internal and external audiences, based on email content calendar and liaises with internal departments for content.
  12. Manages and maintains email database of university constituents and coordinates with Concordia's data management staff and Concordia's University Advancement team for email list management and segmentation.
  13. Monitors and tracks social media and email analytics and makes recommendations on strategy, implementation, and creative to increase metrics.
  14. Must be available to manage social media or create emails as needed beyond normal working hours.
  15. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • At least 3-4 years related experience and/or training
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
